Clara Gomes was born in Abrantes, graduated in 2000 in Chemistry from the University of Coimbra, finished a MSc in Chemistry in 2003 at the same University, and completed her doctoral studies (PhD in Chemistry), in 2009, at Instituto Superior Técnico (Universidade Técnica de Lisboa), under the supervision of Dr. Pedro T. Gomes. From 2010 to 2018, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Centro de Química Estrutural (IST), working on the development of new catalytic systems for polymerization of olefins and in the application of boron molecules as luminescent materials, on mechanochemistry and crystallography (XRD), which contributed to deepen her skills. In November 2018, she moved to NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA-SST), at the Department of Chemistry, in the Single Crystal X-ray Crystallography Service, hired, after a competitive call, by the LAQV (Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde) Research Unit as the new Service Responsible and Service Scientist. Since then, she implemented and managed the Structure Determination Service and the X-ray Facility. As new integrated member of the Research Unit joined the Molecular Synthesis research group. Since 2008, she has been involved in teaching activities. She was Assistant Professor at Instuto Piaget and Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz and Invited Assistant Professor at IST-ULisboa and NOVA-SST, keeping regular support to 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles in Chemistry and X-ray diffraction curricular units. She also teaches regularly at advanced courses and workshops. In 2018, she was awarded a 238k project (PTDC/QUI-QIN/31585/2017), as Principal Investigator. Currently, she is co-PI due to the change in her professional affiliation from IST-UL to LAQV-REQUIMTE, NOVA-SST, but still assuming coordination duties. She participated in 8 other projects, being a Management Committee (MC substitute member), Core Groups (Gender Balance Coordinator) and Communications Team member of COST Action CA18112. She maintains a national and international collaborative network with researchers from Lisbon, Coimbra, Serbia, UK, France, Croatia, Poland, and Spain. In the last 5 years, she supervised 10 students (1 MSc research fellow, 3 internships, 3 BSc projects and 2 ongoing, and 1 ongoing MSc), and tutored 4 PhD students in XRD. In the last 5 years, she was in the jury in 8 academic examinations (including PhD), being the main examiner in 3. Up to February 2021, her research activity has produced 59 peer-reviewed publications (26, since 2016), 1 book chapter and 2 patents, 22 oral communications (8 invited and 6 co-authored) and co-authored 43 poster communications. Citation metrics in Scopus (ID 24343503400) indicate 59 articles with citation data, with 627 citations and an h-index of 15. Invitation to publish in special issues, for oral communications (Chair of a session at G11 Workshop), for the editorial board of 2 journals and to be a reviewer for 14 journals reflect the recognition of her peers. As science outreach activities, she dynamized guided visits to the Laboratório de Química Organometálica e Catálise (CQE-IST-ULisboa - IOARC group, 2004-2018) and was member of the organizing committee of 7 conferences and workshops, 1 to be held in 2021.
