Abstract

Continuing and complementing a previous revision article on the main concepts of quality control in lung function tests, this article gathers the principles of each main techniques of the daily clinical practice. The purpose of this work is not aimed at the replacement or correction of clinical guidelines under use, which are published by the main international respiratory societies, but instead to stress the principal aspects of quality control, and illustrate them with practical recommendations, indications and limitations for the most common tests, with easy rules for decision-making, contributing to its comprehension and usefulness on the every-day work. The constant aim for specific quality of each technical act ensures that the results lead to conclusions of both diagnostic and prognostic relevance.
